Who is, this is? Wetlands!

Ohh Wetlands we miss you….

So this week I decided to posted this wetlands advert from a zine that I cut down from my walls. The Wetlands which I have posted about before was a great venue. It did not have a great sound system or a good stage set up, but it had a great vibe to the place much like a favorite dive bar.
I attended maybe 2 shows on the advert the first I may have gone to was the bouncing souls show, but I definitely attended the Voodoo Glow Skulls. In high school I was part of the radio station, I know nerd! It did however help me interview bands and see tons of shows. This show in particular was cool I ended up going in early and interview all the Glow Skulls during they’re Firme tour. Brought a friend with me who was very excited to share a very large joint with the band as we did the interview in the basement of the wetlands.
The show was great, saw a band called Schlong who at that time had just releases a punk rock cover version of the musical West Side Story. Next up was the Blue Meanies who just had this great evil ska sound. The Voodoo Glow Skulls had a huge crowd since they had not played New York all that much and they’re record was getting pretty big. It was a very high energy set and a real red letter day.

Arrivederci

Below is a sculpture i made of the character on the poster above, its very heavy and it was fun to make back then.

Pull the plug, Pull the plug....

Word up

This is quickie, Neglect and Vod ruled long island Hardcore with a big hate hammer. Both great examples of late 90's Hardcore. I have spoken previous about silent majority and was a big fan.

I listened to the VOD still ep on a commute home. It is still as good as the first time i heard those songs on a crappy demo tape i bought at the PWAC.

Goodbye to You

Howdy

I know i've been slacking with the postings, but work has been keeping me busy. The below flyer is a show at Deja one. I spent my prom night at the first Deja show, which was a big ska show to me at the time. Yet my memory is bad and i can't remember the Headliner. I was semi friends with the shows bookie and was excited to see the start of a new club. Also no date to the prom :( .

Now this flyer is no Ska show, its a show for an awesome band called Kiss it Goodbye. It was one of the first bands i knew that took hardcore metal and changed it. What it became was a super charged violent metal sound mixed with an electrical machine vibe. I dug them big time, to bad i missed this show.

see you in the pit

Fu + gazi = great

Hey All

So i got a bunch of new flyers from a friend. I figured posting this one would be best. Never had the pleasure of seeing Fugazi live , but I do remember having the opportunity and passing it up. I did however see one of they're live videos that a friend watched on a weekly basis in college.
Maybe some day down the road they may get back together and tour, most likely not. So below is yet another Flyer from the all mighty Pwac years.

Take care

Can't wait for the next show

Hey all

Just saw this youtube video of an upcoming Avail documentry figured i should post it with a flyer. its only half a one, but i love seeing avail so much i wanted to share it anyway. If the other half was there i am pretty sure it would show it was from a PWAC show in long island. Not sure if any band every really played like long islands own Warped Weeble Woobles. I do have a video of this show, i guess i should post it some time down the road. I never see Avail play FCA much anymore, but when they played it that day it was intense.

goodbye to you

First Warped Tour Ever…..!!!!!!

Now this flyer has tons a memories for me. The first off the top of my head was when walking around during the show I thought it was funny to see people like Even Seinfeld of Biohazard all tatted up pushing a little kid in a stroller around.
This was a concert line up of the who’s who’s of alternative music of that time. I do regret not paying closer attention to sublime when they were on stage. Was one of the few times I saw Orange 9mm live and loved every minute of it. Quicksand closed out the day with a powerful set and everyday since they broke up I wish I could see them again and again. I was lucky enough to have a press pass at the time and was able to get amazing photos which I will try to post down the road.
The day after Warped Tour I remember being at a family function and hearing my Grandfather talk about driving by the Coliseum and how the noise was vibrating his car windows. I was hoping it was during Civ or Sick of it All. I am pretty sure that they moved warped tour to Randall’s Island afterwards because asphalt and stage diving equal lawsuits. Now everyone breaths in dust all day and roasts in the sun. It became full circle for me when I brought my younger cousins to warped tour on the tenth anniversary of the tour without knowing it till I got there. When thinking about all the warped tours you get a good sense of how time passes, but great memories still seem to linger

New Year will bring new flyers

Hey all

Happy belated new year, just posting quickly today plan on writing up some long stories real soon.

below is a flyer for a show i went to, but the memory is a bit fuzzy. I know my buddy nick went with me to this dark basement in and old church up town. Thought we may have gone to meet a friend can't recall. I remember Sweet Diesel being really cool as well shades apart and who wouldn't think Oh my Grod is and interesting name.

over and out
