Got Beat Up

Nah, i never got beat up at a Weston show, but it was the title of a great record they made. I am not sure if i attended this show, but i think thats because Weston played Long Island many many times. Also because of that i thought they where from Long Island, but ended up being from originally Bethlehem, PA.
Either way they where always fun to see live and seemed to be a bunch of nice guys. Just looking at this flyer makes me wish for the days of 6 dollar shows like a cranky old man on the porch. Awesome dude on the flyer with his diving gear or whatever.

Sad to see them go

So most of the clubs and venues from the 90's are gone. One of which is Coney Island High on the northern side of St Marks between 3rd and 2nd ave (NYC). Saw numerous shows there and most of which where awesome. The flyer below is one of which they would issue about every month. This one has some super cool shows from way back, many of which i regret not attending.
Coney's has now become i think a thai restaurant and condos. Darn shame since it was always a loud cramp spaced filled to the brim with crazy fans for whatever show of the day. I recall seeing Liftime for the first time, opening for a band called Plow United. Also an amazing record release party for the Bouncing Souls's Maniacal Laughter. The last one off the top of my head was a two day Nofx show with the Lunachicks and Snuff. One of my grander nights out at a club with all my friends from high school. Please send in any other Coney Island High flyers like this one if you happen to have them.

bye bye

Another Flyer For All

So this is a weird one, because i don't remember the headliner at all. I was always a big fan of Stillsuit, wish they had more than one EP to listen to though. I may post more today if i get around to scanning more flyers.

Ah Ska...

Ok so just to keep up with postings here is a flyer from Massachusetts For a ska show. One band listed was an awesome ska/metal band called Thumper, from Connecticut. Matter a fact i still have their album, i may have to rip that to my Ipod. Think i saw them once at the wetlands, but my memory is a bit hazy. Besides plenty of Hardcore shows the Wetlands was a big home for the 90's Ska scene. Damn shame they closed and made condo's there. Anyways here it is hope you enjoy it, i will post more ska flyers when i get a chance.

Love That PWAC

Hey everyone

Today I decided to post a cool flyer from the hey day of the PWAC on long Island. It was also later known as the Common Ground and very well known in the Tri-state area. If it wasn't for the people who ran that place i would seen 80% less shows back in high school. The weekdays had cool local band shows followed up by big touring bands on the weekend. It was a damn shame they got closed down, but i guess great things must always come to an end.

Greatest BBQ Ever !!!

So now that i got the blog looking a bit more respectable I figure I should post some more flyers. I recall the flyer below was a college graduation BBQ for Rich of Silent Majority. My friend Matt and i attended the show and where excited to see the Enkindles play long island. The first memory i recall is that Rich had a ton of food for everyone, including vegan Swedish meatballs (yummy). It was pretty hilarious hearing all the bands thank his mom for the food when she was in the kitchen window behind the stage. In the end i am not sure all the bands on the flyer ended up playing, my memory is blurry about that. I have omitted the directions so that you crazy Silent Majoirty fans don't bug Rich's Parents or the people who bought there house if they moved.
I decided to post this one today since I saw Indecision's reunion show last night, it was quiet awesome. I have never scene so many giant dudes in the pit and singing-a-long at once. Plus the lovely hardcore ladies where out in full force for the show. If you attended I hope you had as much fun as i did.

Peace out

First Cool Show Ever

Hey Flyer People

Below is the first cool underground show i ever attend. I remember skinheads fighting during Ox Blood and hiding behind 2 park cars inside the venue with my best friend Nick. I vaguely remember Edna's Goldfish taking the stage and rocking out. Mind over matter was intense and the crowd went berserk for Mephiskapheles, you could feel the tension before the music started.
When i think about it this show was a nice mixed bag of music genres. Now a days if you see a show mixing genres people seem to always say why are they playing together. Never understood why people say that when it makes a show seem more diverse and memorable.
This is my first real posting and adventure into blogland so i hope if you have any old flyers from your past, please send them my way.

Adios
